A half-size violin, belonging to Eva (4A), has been missing since Friday.
It is likely that someone else with a half-size violin, in the same case (purple and blue), has taken Eva's violin home by mistake. Please check your violin case. If you have Eva's violin, please return it to Miss Rusbatch, or the 4A classroom. Thank you. HUGE thanks to everyone who turned up to M&S on Saturday, despite the miserable winter weather. You sang beautifully and raised lots of money for Rockinghorse - a Brighton-based charity that supports sick children and babies.
Photos and video clips from Tuesday night's concert are being organised and will soon be added to the Christmas 2018 page. Keep your eyes peeled.
Special thanks to the following photographers and videographers: Kati and Ian Byrne, Mr Ringland, Mrs Martin and Miss Trevatt. Congratulations to the Year 3 team. Your performances (yesterday and today) were ice-tastic! Great costumes, props, speaking, acting, singing and smiling. Next week, we will be sad to say goodbye to our drum tutor, Loz Thomas, as he ventures off to a new career, and also the world of fatherhood. Thank you for your valued tuition, inspiration and commitment to our students Loz.
In January 2019, a new drum kit tutor will be offering one-to-one 30 minute lessons in school on Tuesdays from 14:30. The new tutor is being provided by the Brighton and Hove Music and Arts Service. To apply for these lessons, please complete the online application form. Here is a direct link. Tutor details will soon be added to the Drum Kit web page. WOWEEEEEEEE! Well done to everyone involved in yesterday's concert to ex-pupils, and last night's festive celebration at St. Bartholomew's Church. The feedback from audience members and school staff has been overwhelmingly positive. You should be incredibly proud of yourselves. Thank you for working and rehearsing so hard. You're shining stars! Keep your eyes peeled for photos and videos over the next few days - they'll appear on the Christmas 2018 web page. Congratulations to the Year 6 Super Choir - they sang their socks (and Santa hats) off last night at the Brighton Centre, alongside 1,300 children from 43 schools. We were accompanied all evening by the Brighton and Hove Wind Orchestra and the Brighton and Hove Youth Big Band; both groups included ex-pupils of Downs Junior School. The Year 6 Super Choir are ready, warmed up and in fine voice ahead of this evening's huge concert at The Brighton Centre. This afternoon's rehearsal sounded wonderful - the audience are in for a treat.
