Chicken Knitters International Theatre Company (ITC)
All children deserve to experience peace and happiness - some, sadly, are not that fortunate. Chicken Knitters aim to give a voice, to the voiceless child with a story to tell, and share their story internationally.
Aims
Through the performing arts, Chicken Knitters aim to create unique, innovative, challenging and thought-provoking stage musicals and youth operas that raise awareness of social humanitarian issues, historical events and true stories that are pertinent to children,.
Through the power of youth stage musical performances, charity concerts, intimate plays and participation in international arts festivals, we aim to evoke empathy, and engage the social conscience of our performers and audiences. The hope is that this will result in greater education, fund raising and the raising of awareness of the hundreds of thousands of children around the world who currently endure daily suffering and sacrifice.
Lizzie Jago and Anna Rusbatch aim to write original scripts and compose new music and lyrics about true stories, to break stereotypes, challenge misconceptions and emphasise the resilience of the human spirit and the power of hope. Existing productions tackle issues such as life as a refugee, the black market slave trade, social stereotypes and disability.. Upcoming topics will include the apartheid, social exclusion, trafficking, child labour, gang violence, WWI, WWII and issues surrounding male child soldiers and their young female counterparts.
Chicken Knitters aim to provide opportunities for talented youth performers all over the world, to reach their potential and strive to achieve high standards of professional excellence on stage.
