Cinderella the Pantomime, featuring Mackenzie (Year 6) and Johnny (Year 4) alongside a professional cast to raise money for Martlets Hospice.
Will Cinderella get to the ball, meet the prince of her dreams and live happily ever after? Or will she remain forever in the evil clutches of her wicked step-mother and two of the ugliest sisters you are ever likely to set eyes upon! Music Theatre 2000 and Showtime Productions are proud to bring to the Windmill Theatre a traditional, magical, musical pantomime for all the family to enjoy. Cinderella is one of the best-loved fairy tales of all time bursting with boos and cheers, songs and laughter. Thanks to everyone who came and performed at Marks and Spencer to help raise money for Martlets Hospice. Feedback from a lovely 86 year old lady who attended Downs Junior School in the 1930s.
The school has changed so much – very homely. I’m sure it’s one of the best schools. It was so well equipped – I’m so glad for the pupils. How times have changed – it was so different in my day. I shed a tear! It was so nostalgic. All the little ones today were so sweet, fidgeting with their tinsel and swishing their long hair – particularly one young lady with long fair hair. The concert was a great success. Here's feedback from some more ex-pupils of Downs Junior School: Many thanks for today’s entertainment and opportunity to see how well Downs is doing. It was really good to see the pupils’ enthusiasm and how well they respond to their music teacher’s splendid work. It was nice, too, to meet up and share memories with other ‘oldies’. We are all interested to see how the school has survived and moved on in today’s challenging world. Congratulations – and here’s to next year! Tomorrow morning (10th) will be the final Mega Choir rehearsal for this school term. Similarly, Thursday 11th December will be the final Orchestra rehearsal for this term.
All music clubs will recommence the week beginning 12th January 2015. What an incredible day of festive music making. Huge congratulations to all of the children involved.
At this same concert last year we were all thrilled (especially Miss Rusbatch) to hear that the composer, Howard Blake was planning to attend (as he used to attend Downs Junior School in the 1960s). I'm delighted to inform you that Howard came to this year's concert too. It was a wonderful surprise. Miss Rusbatch darted out onto Rugby Road after the concert to steal a quick photo with the man himself! Bravo Super Choir. You performed wonderfully tonight and proved that this is certain to be a wonderful week of musical Christmas celebrations. Here's a little peek from our perspective on stage tonight... Well done to the children in the Year 6 Super Choir who spent the afternoon rehearsing for this evening's joint schools' enormous Christmas celebration. Here they are rehearsing Walking in the Air: Many thanks to the children who sang their festive hearts out in the school canteen on Friday evening to help raise money for FODJ in support of the Christmas Fair. |
