Harvest Song (2014)

There was a time when the fields were prepared, and the good soil was carefully ploughed
Then came the day for the farmer to sow, and the seeds were all scattered around

There’s a song to sing as the harvest comes in , to the one who gives sunshine and rain
Let us all join in with a thank offering, for the harvest that’s gathered again

There was some time for the farmer to wait, as the seeds slowly grew out of sight
Then came the day when the first shoots appeared, and the farmer was filled with delight

There’s a song to sing as the harvest comes in , to the one who gives sunshine and rain
Let us all join in with a thank offering, for the harvest that’s gathered again

Now is the time when the crops are full grown, and the farmer must gather them in
He’ll need some help ‘cos there’s lots to be done, and it’s hard to know where to begin

There’s a song to sing as the harvest comes in , to the one who gives sunshine and rain
Let us all join in with a thank offering, for the harvest that’s gathered again

(Finally, rap the chorus twice!)

It’s harvest time, (Harvest time) - It’s harvest time, (Harvest time) - It’s harvest time, Let’s celebrate it!
We’re here to give our thanks, for the good things that we have, celebrate, celebrate, it’s harvest time.

China is the place to go for paddy fields of rice, food from ev’ry corner of the world.
If we work together we can lend a helping hand - food is precious, gathered from the land.

India is busy growing diff’rent kinds of tea - food from ev’ry corner of the world.
If we work together we can lend a helping hand - food is precious, gathered from the land.

Spain is growing oranges and lemons just for you, food from ev’ry corner of the world.
If we work together we can lend a helping hand, food is precious, gathered from the land.

Harvest Samba

Let's Harvest

Let's Harvest!
by Al Start © 2008

The summer sun is lower in the sky - The leaves on the trees are slowly turning dry
There's a message on the breeze - It says 'it's time; it's time, oh please'

So, let's harvest - reap what we sow - Let's harvest - eat what we grow
So, let's harvest - reap what we sow - Let's harvest - eat what we grow
And when the sun goes down - We'll share it all around

The fruit trees bend and nod, the time is now - The golden fields are ready for the plough
And when our work is done - Then the autumn comes

So, let's harvest - reap what we sow - Let's harvest - eat what we grow
So, let's harvest - reap what we sow - Let's harvest - eat what we grow
And when the sun goes down - We'll share it all around

Oooooooooooo Bah Bah! (repeat)

There'll be apples and pears, damsons and cherries - Plums and grapes, currants and berries
Barley and wheat to make our toast - Nuts and seeds to dry and roast
Carrots and leeks, peas and beans - More potatoes than you've ever seen
We'll make jams and juice, crumbles and pies - And when nobody's looking we'll try the wine!

So, let's harvest - reap what we sow - Let's harvest - eat what we grow
So, let's harvest - reap what we sow - Let's harvest - eat what we grow
And when the sun goes down - We'll share it all around

So, let's harvest - reap what we sow - Let's harvest - eat what we grow
So, let's harvest - reap what we sow - Let's harvest - eat what we grow
And when the sun goes down - We'll share it all around
