Huge congratulations to this year' Year 6 Dance Troupe who performed at the Brighton Dome last night for the Let's Dance event. The evening was a spectacle and you all shone and glistened to Justin Bieber's 'Sorry'. Well done to everyone involved.

Hanna Neter was one of our judges for this year's Battle of the Bands. She enjoyed the experience so much that she mentioned the Battle on the radio the following morning. You can hear the radio segment below. For more information, visit the Battle of the Bands 2016 page.
Congratulations to the 4F Team - your assembly / production today was FANTASTIC in EVERY way: Great voice projection, great comic timing, very educational and really entertaining. Loved the costumes and the slideshow. Well done everyone. Congratulations to this year's winners of Battle of the Bands - Rowan, Esme and Fleur - also known as ELECTRODYNAMIX. The performed faultlessly: stunning vocals and beautiful harmonies with Rowan also performing on guitar. They sang a song called All the Medicines Combined, written by Rowan and Fleur.
Congratulations to ALL of last night's finalists. You were AMAZING and demonstrated so much talent and bravery and skill. For the final results and scores, feedback from the judges, audio tracks, video clips and photos of last night's final, visit the Battle of the Bands 2016 page. Thanks to our fantastic judges: Ollie Tunmer (STOMP performer and percussionist), Monty Oxymoron (keyboardist for The Damned), Hanna Neter (Breakfast Show DJ at Juice FM) and Steve Rockett (sound designer and audio director at Lowrider Sound Ltd.). Special thanks to last year's winner, Ruby Vaughn, who returned as a guest performer. Her voice is more sublime than ever! A final thanks to all of the children involved in this year's battle. 57 bands (206 children) auditioned this year (a record number)! Your creativity and musicianship and all round brilliance is much appreciated and highly valued at Downs Junior School. KEEP MAKING MUSIC KIDS! Yesterday, we were extremely fortunate to be able to welcome Ollie Tunmer back to Downs Junior School. Ollie is a seasoned STOMP performer and an incredibly talented percussionist. Ollie's Dad, Andy Tunmer, was the music teacher at Downs Junior School in the 1980s and Ollie's Mum Liz sings with Miss Rusbatch in the Brighton Goes Gospel Choir!
Ollie thinks he was aged 10 or 11 when he spent the day at Downs Junior School with his Dad, as his own school was closed for the day. This time Ollie returned to lead workshops and judge the Battle of the Bands. All of the children in Year 6 experienced stamping, clapping, basketball bouncing and chanting masterclass from Ollie. The children have been working on their own STOMP-inspired pieces and routines so they were excited to share these with Ollie. For more information and video clips visit the STOMP page. Tickets can be booked online at this web address: https://www.schoolinterviews.co.uk/
Enter the CODE: 7ghgh Today, all of the children in tomorrow's final received a permission letter. To allow them to participate in tomorrow's Final, the form must be completed, signed and returned to Miss Rusbatch tomorrow. If need be, you can download the letter below and on the Battle of the Bands page.
