An official thank you and well done to everyone who participated in our fundraising singing session outside M&S in December. Every penny counts towards providing support for young people with cancer, and their families.

Lunchtime rehearsals have been well attended by hard-working bands throughout the school. It's exciting to hear so many original, new songs being written and rehearsed. The standard seems to be higher than ever!
The auditions will take place between Monday 27th February and Friday 3rd March. Good luck everyone. A list of audition slots will be made available soon after the closing date for Battle entry forms (which is Friday 10th February). For more information, visit the Battle of the Bands 2017 page. In today's orchestra rehearsal, the children started to compose ideas for next school piece. We started by exploring melodic ideas and will expand on these next week. We also rehearsed Skat Cat Swing for the second time. Have a listen below: 4K and 4C have made an extremely promising start to their Soundmakers experience. After only 2 lessons they're already playing, and confidently moving between, 2 different chords and notes and varying their rhythm patterns. Keep it up kids! Thanks to our Soundmakers teacher this term - brass extraordinaire - Sarah Leeves. For more information about the Year 4 instrument programme, visit the Ukulele Page and the pBuzz Page. Saturday 28th January, 10:30This year’s Jazz For Juniors promises to be every bit as inspiring as in previous years and will run along similar lines:
A series of prior gatherings with young musicians in the Brighton and Shoreham areas will lead up to the workshop on the morning of Saturday 28th January, followed by an afternoon showing of the work for parents, siblings and the public. Julian (festival curator) will compose the material, with elements evolved by students during the workshops worked into this. All comers between the ages of 10 and 17 are welcome – some capability on their instrument will be useful, as improvisation requires a degree of confidence, but in previous years we have included a great range of skill level without turning anyone away! Please email info@southcoastjazzfestival.com for more information. Please include your child’s name, age and instrument and write ‘Jazz For Juniors’ in the subject area. Battle of the Bands rehearsals have now started:
