Music Genres
Summer Term Project - Music of the 20th and 21st Centuries
The children in Year 6 will be choosing a specific musical style / genre / band / artist / song. Their choice will be the focus of their:
1) RESEARCHING
2) PRESENTING
3) COMPOSING
4) PERFORMING
On Thursday 23rd May the children will present their research in whatever form they choose: a slideshow of images, powerpoint presentation, short video, facts and information on a sheet or simply talk to the rest of the class about their chosen genre or artist. They will also perform, or play a pre-recorded, composition or a unique cover/interpretation of a piece of music in the style of their chosen artist/genre.
The children are allowed to use music technology, apps, software if they choose. Miss Rusbatch will lock away any technology required for this project during the day to allow the children to use their phones/tablets/laptops in the class and for their presentations and performances.
Alternatively, their composition and performance may be entirely acoustic, using the instruments in the music room. Their composition and performance does not require the use of voice - it may be entirely instrumental or electronic.
Below are some of the genres and artists already chosen by the Year 6 children:
Genres: Rock, Pop, Classical, Soundtrack, Video Game Music, Reggae, Rap, Alternative, R&B, Dance, World
