On 26th May, the children in Mega Choir and Orchestra walked down to the Pavilion Gardens in Brighton to perform an original piece which re-tells the stories and memories of the thousands of Indian soldiers, who recovered from their battle wounds within the walls on the Pavilion Palace during World War 1. We collaborated with children from Bannockburn Primary School in London.
Adult volunteers kindly accompanied us to and from the Pavilion Gardens. The event was documented to form part of an educational package about the contribution the soldiers from India made towards the World War 1 efforts, and the role played by the Royal Pavilion in Brighton in helping the wounded soldiers to convalesce. Permission was requested (see the letter above) to allow the children to be filmed, photographed and interviewed by the media.
We performed on the Bedhead Pavilion stage on the West Lawn (near the Pavilion cafe). See the map below (A1A) and photos of the stage site at the bottom of this page:

Men travelling far from an Eastern Land,
To help their brothers take a stand.
No matter their colour, faith or creed,
Red is the river that flows when they bleed.
The trill of a flute, sweet sounds of home,
Lift hearts of men, who are lost and alone.
The Pavilion helped them to heal and mend
Lest we forget our foreign friends
To help their brothers take a stand.
No matter their colour, faith or creed,
Red is the river that flows when they bleed.
The trill of a flute, sweet sounds of home,
Lift hearts of men, who are lost and alone.
The Pavilion helped them to heal and mend
Lest we forget our foreign friends
